Depending on the year of death, you may need to use the prior year's program to complete the 706 return.

For example, the 2019 program would be used for someone that passed in 2020.

Step 2: Confirm the Correct 706 Form in That Program

The 706 form in the 2019 program is for decedents passing after December 31, 2019.
