How to Unlock User Account for Web Version

- Unlock or reset your Admin username for the Web Version
- Unlock or reset a created user account that has become locked or forgotten password
⚠️ Before You Begin
You will need:
- Access to the Web Version login screen at surefiretaxsoftware.net
- Admin credentials (if resetting another user's password)
📊 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Reset Admin Username Password
Use this when you forgot your Admin password or need to reset it.
- Go to the Web Version login page at surefiretaxsoftware.net
- Click on the [Forgot Password] button on the login screen
- A new password will be emailed to you
- Check your email (including spam/junk folder) for the password reset email
- Log in with your new password
Step 2: Unlock or Reset a Preparer Username
Use this when another user's account is locked or they forgot their password.
- Log into the Web Version using your Admin username
- Click on [Administrator] in the top right corner
- Click on [Settings]
- Click on [Manage Users]
- Find the username that is locked or has a forgotten password
- Click the [RESET] button next to that username
Step 3: Use the Temporary Password
After you reset a user account, they will receive a temporary password.
- The temporary password will be an exact copy of the username (case-sensitive)
- For example: if the username is BoBsToNe, the password is BoBsToNe
- Have the user log in with this temporary password
- After the first login, the user will be forced to create a new, unique password
✅ What to Expect
Once you reset the password, the user will:
- Be able to log in immediately
- Be prompted to create a new unique password on their first login
- Have full access to their account
