How to Unlock User Account for Web Version

Step 1: Reset Admin Username Password

Use this when you forgot your Admin password or need to reset it.

1. Go to the Web Version login page at surefiretaxsoftware.net
2. Click on the [Forgot Password] button on the login screen
3. A new password will be emailed to you
4. Check your email (including spam/junk folder) for the password reset email
5. Log in with your new password

Step 2: Unlock or Reset a Preparer Username

Use this when another user's account is locked or they forgot their password.

1. Log into the Web Version using your Admin username
2. Click on [Administrator] in the top right corner
3. Click on [Settings]
4. Click on [Manage Users]
5. Find the username that is locked or has a forgotten password
6. Click the [RESET] button next to that username

Step 3: Use the Temporary Password

After you reset a user account, they will receive a temporary password.

1. The temporary password will be an exact copy of the username (case-sensitive)
2. For example: if the username is BoBsToNe, the password is BoBsToNe
3. Have the user log in with this temporary password
4. After the first login, the user will be forced to create a new, unique password
